Ushers
As
the number of new members in the church continues to grow, so has the number
of new members to the Usher’s Committee. Presently, there are 20
serving as ushers at the 10:30 a.m. service and 8 serving as ushers at
the 8:30 a.m. service. Even with this excellent group of ushers,
we always welcome any member of the church (male or female) who would like
to serve on this committee. The responsibilities of the ushers can
cover many different areas of church activities, from greeting, offertory,
and ushering at Sunday services, to helping set up and assist at special
services and functions. If you have an interest in serving as an
usher at either service, give me or the church office a call and we’ll
gladly work to get you on board!

The
Memorials Committee
The Memorials
Committee is
designed to instigate and oversee projects relating to the enhancement
of our liturgy services primarily through physical improvements to the
sanctuary and chapel. Some of our efforts are quite obvious – the
stained glass windows, baptismal font, chapel restoration, credence table…others
are less obvious – repair, refinishing of crosses and that sort of maintenance.
This description probably sounds self-limiting but it is definitely not.
Our house of worship, like any house, always needs something. Unfortunately,
like most home projects that yield impressive results, ours usually take
a great deal of cash. We are not funded through the parish budget,
nor do we solicit funds – relying instead on the generosity and superior
intelligence of all who honor or memorialize loved ones by a gift designated
– Memorial Fund. This is a slow process (amassing enough to tackle
something really big), so we have no set schedule of meeting times, but
rather work furiously while we’re in the midst of a project, then sit back
and wait for the coffers to fill. We have an extensive “wish list”
with varying price tags that we do keep our eye on, so gifts of any size
are always put to good use. If you have any questions, comments or
expertise to offer, please ...

Acolyte
Committee
Your
acolytes continue to do a great job! We will have several new acolytes
“coming on board” this summer or in the fall. We will be losing several
acolytes to high school graduation. We have had a number of experienced
acolytes graduate over the last three years and it is very important that
we not only have new acolytes come forward but that our current acolytes
take on more responsibility. One of the most important parts of this
is parental and family support. We have encountered a few problems
with acolytes not obtaining substitutes or being late but we have, and
will continue to, overcome these problems; each acolyte family can help
by paying special attention to the acolyte scheduling. Thanks to
acolyte parents for their continued assistance and thanks to our acolytes
for their diligence and commitment. If you are a young person in
grade 6 or above, and are not currently serving as an acolyte, but would
like to, please contact David Sparks
