----------------------------------------------------------------------

Centering Prayer is a method designed to facilitate the development of contemplative prayer by preparing our faculties to cooperate with this gift. It is an attempt to present the teaching of earlier time (e.g. The Cloud of Unknowing) in an updated form and to put a certain order and regularity into it. It is not meant to replace other kinds of prayer; it simply puts other kinds of prayer into a new and fuller perspective.

What Does YOUR Church Mean to You?

By Darlene & Les Huntington

My husband and I have visited many churches of various faiths in the past few years, but could never find what we were searching for. Our quest was simple—we wanted to find a place where God was the center of worship, where the service was conducted with reverence and sincerity, and where everyone could be a part of the service, instead of numbly sitting in the pew being “preached to”. On our first visit to All Saints’, it was immediately apparent to us that we had found such a place. My husband knew something was different when he saw me reach for a pew card and begin filling out the request for more information about the Episcopal Church. This was something that we avoided at the other churches we had visited.
On our first few visits, we were a bit confused with the service itself, but we are slowly catching up to everyone else and are feeling very much a part of the service. We can even find the right pages in the hymnal and the prayer book now.
All Saints’ is a place where people are allowed to be humans, to ask questions, to seek answers, and to feel good about their individual relationship with God. This is a place where God truly is the center of all things, and we are honored to be a part of the All Saints’ community.

I can’t put this in a few words. I feel the presence of God in the worship service. I find solace and helpfulness in the sermons. I enjoy the worship service in the joining of the scripture and prayers. Having communion every Sunday prepares me for a better week. The people I have met and friends I’ve made are wonderful. I find them very sincere.
My personal life has been low since my husband’s (James) death and I was not finding any peace at my former church. Thanks to my mother-in-law’s (Hazel Walker) friendship, I believe I have found my place at All Saints’. --Janet Clark

By Phil and Jayne Aycock

We have been searching for a new church home for the past several years. Jayne is a confirmed Episcopalian, so it seemed natural for me to become an Episcopalian, as we are committed to worshipping together. The friendliness and reception of All Saints’ has overwhelmed us. Needless to say, the Episcopal form of worship kept me on my toes and somewhat confused, what with all the switching between books during the service. After completing the Inquirers’ classes, I now understand the Episcopal beliefs and liturgy and feel comfortable with worship. We cherish the Holy Eucharist. Thank you for your warm welcome into your community.

ALL SAINTS’ FILLS MY CUP
By Judy Zinn

All Saints’ honors and glorifies God as he should be honored. The peaceful times allow my mind, body, and spirit to come together as one. The heart of the church is a united fellowship of happy servants. Many times the choir touches my spirit so deeply that I feel like I’m having a heavenly experience. Also, everyone is welcome at All Saints’—the praying church.

Peace be with you.
